Elizabeth was born and raised in London, England. At the age of 5, she began her musical education. She first learned to play the piano and then violin.
Elizabeth was accepted into the prestigious Royal College of Music conservatoire in the heart of London at the age of 14. There, she continued to train classically in piano, violin and voice.
She was the leader for several string and piano ensembles and played first violin for the Symphony and Chamber orchestras. She received her Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music Performance diplomas (Dip ABRSM and LRSM) in both piano and violin while studying at the same institution.
Studies at Oxford University
Elizabeth went on to attain Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Music. She graduated with Honors from Oxford University, England.
While at Oxford she continued her passion for performing. Elizabeth played first violin for the Philharmonic and Chamber Orchestras. She also developed a love for music history, composition and film music.
Some of the highlights of Elizabeth’s performance experience throughout her education and career have included:
- Concerts at St John’s Smith Square
- The Royal Albert Hall
- The Royal Festival Hall in London
- The Oxford Playhouse.
Elizabeth’s desire has always been to share her gift and love of music with others, especially children. She has been teaching private piano and violin to students of all ages and levels for over 15 years. Her experience includes teaching individually and in large groups, from children as young as 3 years old to adults.
After moving to the United States, in addition to teaching privately, Elizabeth began teaching music in the classroom at NW Chicago-area schools.
She was head of the Lower School Music department at Quest Academy in Palatine, IL. While at Quest, Elizabeth enjoyed motivating and challenging children as young as 3 years old to be the best well-rounded musicians possible. Her focus was on instrumental and vocal performance, history and composition.
She also worked as the choir instructor and piano accompanist for school concerts and on collaborative projects with the drama department.
Until June 2015, Elizabeth also maintained an independent Piano & Violin Studio based in Lake in the Hills, IL. Students from the studio showcased their hard work and talent at regular recitals and competitions, as well as performances for the community.
Since June 2015 the studio has relocated to Plainfield, IL. You can contact her to arrange lessons.
